As marijuana becomes legal for medical and even recreational use in several states, the universe of enhanced edibles is expanding rapidly. Chocolate-chip cookies, lollipops, chewy candies – pretty much everything a small child would see as a special treat is now available with a hefty dose of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana.

That makes edibles a household danger; what produces a pleasant buzz in an adult is dangerous for a child. If your child does get into your stash, get medical help immediately.

Keep your cannabis products in secure containers, locked and out of reach. Don’t eat them in front of children. Be clear with caregivers and babysitters so they know the difference between edibles with marijuana and other foods, and so they don’t bring any edibles into your house. Talk with other parents about what you – and they – have in the house.

Whether you partake or not, here’s a look at some of the latest forms of edible marijuana.
